The Clarence Valley Independent reports that NSW is implementing stricter COVID-19 enforcement measures in response to the Delta variant. The changes include increased fines up to $5,000 for breaches, $320 support payments for testing and isolation, and permit requirements for entering regional NSW. Police presence is also being increased as part of the enforcement effort. The 10-kilometre movement restriction in Greater Sydney and other lockdown areas is being reduced further.
In a separate matter, the Clarence Valley Independent reports that a man has been convicted and fined at Batemans Bay local court for multiple offences stemming from a 2018 incident at Depot Beach. The charges related to threatening a NSW Department of Primary Industries Fisheries Officer and obstructing their duties.
